Can you send me a catalog?

We have a full color catalog that highlights hundreds of our top products selected from the thousands of products available at AvShop. Currently, we are out of our last edition and are working on our next one, which we expect it to be available in the spring of 2008. Back to top of page.

What about after-the-sale service?

Our Customer Service offices are open between 8am and 6pm, Eastern time. We prefer that you contact the Customer Service staff by filling out our Customer Service Request Form . (This allows our staff to budget their time most effectively and ensures a written record if a problem arises.) But if you are away from your computer, you can describe your issue to the staff via telephone by calling 866-9-AVSHOP. Regardless of how they receive your request, they will provide you an answer by email within one business day. (Note: The staff is required to treat written and telephone requests equally and answer them in the order received.) Back to top of page.

My product doesn't work. What should I do now?

If the product is software or a GPS, the most effective first step would be to contact the manufacturer's support staff and make certain that you are using the product correctly. Often, the manufacturer can provide you with "tips and tricks" that will get the product operating correctly. When they can't, they'll advise you to return it to us, and we'll be happy to refund your money or exchange it. If the problem isn't a technical one, or the item is clearly defective, simply fill out our Returns Form, and we'll give you instructions for returning it to us. I just downloaded one of your software demos and it's asking for a password. What's the password?

Next to the link you clicked to download the demo was a message that said, "send a blank email to xxx@xxx to receive the installation instructions and password." Please return to the page where you downloaded the demo file and send the email as instructed. You'll receive a response from our "auto-responder" within a couple of minutes. Back to top of page.

How do I know I'm getting the latest version of your software?

We guarantee that the any software purchased from us is the latest the publisher has offered to us. However, occasionally, publishers will provide incremental updates that must be downloaded from their Web site. Back to top of page.

But won't my credit card be all over the Internet?

It won't be. Contrary to the stories you might have heard, the credit card companies have been unable to document even one example of a credit card number being stolen from a secure Internet server. In fact, Internet ordering is actually safer than ordering offline, for a variety of reasons. (For details read our Security Page.) I don't have a computer (and/or a credit card). Can I still get the Online price?

Yes. We also accept personal and other checks in advance by mail, but we do not accept COD orders. We accept personal checks drawn on U.S. banks. For check orders, continue the order process normally, and on the payment page simply select the option to send money offline. Upon finishing your order, you will receive further instructions on how to get your payment to us. For orders over $100, we'll have to wait until your personal check clears your bank before shipping your order. (To avoid this delay, send a bank check or money order.) Back to top of page.

Do you accept COD orders?

For some products, your Web site mentions that you are listing the item at the Minimum Advertised Price allowed by the manufacturer. Can I call and get a lower price?

No matter what you order from AvShop, we strive to charge you a fair price that is discounted below the Manufacturer's Suggested List Price but which still allows us to afford to give you great service and the nicest Web catalog in aviation. We offer discounted prices that are hard to beat, but we strive to offer even more than just a low price: great service, plenty of stock on hand, professionally-written catalog copy, professionally produced product images, fast Web site navigation, and staffing by pilots, to name but a few. We have all had the experience of purchasing goods at what we thought were the lowest prices, only to find out the hard way why the prices were so low: the product description was lacking or incorrect, the sales help didn't know what they were talking about, sales tax was charged, products were out of stock so they tried to "talk you up" to a more expensive product, bad after-sale service was provided, or the company even went out of business before you could place another order. None of these things will happen to you at AvShop.

Some manufacturers set a minimum price at which their dealers can advertise their products. Usually, these prices are discounted 10-30% off the list price and represent a very good value. For example, with headsets and avionics, the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) is usually only 17-20% above the price the dealer pays for the goods. Sorry, but when you subtract inbound freight (5%), credit card fees (3-4%), and other overhead (8-10%), there is usually no room for us to discount further and still conduct business in a quality manner. Occasionally, we make special purchases on a few items or get overstocked and can afford to pass the savings on to you by selling them below the MAP. When we can do this, we'll publish a "Hot Deals" price for these products. Back to top of page.

I have more than one promotional code, how do I enter them?

We are pleased to provide a variety of promotional offers to new and existing customers. Due to the nature of the promotions in place, promotional codes typically cannot be combined or we would end up selling certain products for less than we buy them which would obviously affect our ability to stay in business.

You may still have questions about competing codes. We would encourage you to use the code that is of most benefit to you. Your shipping rates seem high. How come?

(Note: Our shipping rates are listed on our Shipping Rates & Policies Page.) Actually, if you spend much time ordering products over the Internet, you'll find that our rates are considerably lower than most online stores. For shipping via the private shipping companies, we simply charge you the average of what the shipping company charges us, plus a small additional charge for the packaging materials and the labor required to pack the order. As has always been true in purchasing items that are to be delivered, shipping charges sometimes make it seem more expensive to buy a product online or by mail order than locally (assuming it is available locally). But this is only true if you don't include the value of your time and the cost of driving to purchase the item and the cost of local sales taxes. Back to top of page.

Do you charge sales tax?

Florida residents must pay 7% state sales tax, but orders to all other states are tax-exempt. If you live outside the U.S., you will probably have to pay duty, GST/VAT, or similar import fees to your Customs office or its agents when your order is delivered. Customs agents/brokers may also charge approx. US$10-15 as a brokerage fee. Back to top of page.

If I order today, will my order be shipped today?

For the vast majority of orders, if you place your order before 3:00 PM Eastern Time, it will be shipped that day. Because of time zone differences, workload, and the fact that some orders ship from more than one location, we cannot guarantee that just because you placed your order today, it will be shipped today.

If your merchandise is to be shipped by one of our suppliers or manufacturers, we will send them your order within one business day of your placing it. However, we don't have any control over how fast they will process and ship it; some companies need an additional 1-3 days to get your order out the door. (This frustrates us as much as does you.)

If you selected an express delivery method, and we have the merchandise in our own warehouse, we will process and pack your order first, before orders that are to be shipped by ground service. Generally, if an order requesting express service delivery is in stock in our warehouse and the order arrives before 3pm Eastern time, it will ship that day. Back to top of page.

Where are you located? Can I pick up my merchandise there?

Our offices and warehouse are located in St Petersburg, Florida. You are welcome to pick up your order there and save on shipping charges. However, first check with our customer service staff by calling 866-9-AVSHOP (866-928-7467) to make certain your merchandise will be available when you arrive, they will then explain the rest of the pickup process. Keep in mind that a few of our less-popular products are shipped directly from our suppliers. This saves us from associated inventory and inbound shipping costs and ensures that you will receive the most up-to-date version of your product, but it also means you won't be able to pick up your goods in person. Will you notify me if something is out of stock?

The availability of each product is listed on the page describing the product so that you're warned before you order, and we will also send you a notice if a product on your order is out of stock. When there are multiple items on an order and one of them is backordered, you will receive two shipping rates to select in the ordering process: To hold the entire order until the backordered item arrives, or to ship products immediately when they become available. Will you send me a tracking number when my order ships?

Yes! Unlike printed catalog firms, for items which we ship from our warehouse, we will email you the UPS or USPS tracking number within two business days of shipping you the order. If your tracking number does not work, don't worry. It can take up to 24 hours for a product to be entered into the shipper's system. Back to top of page.

I ordered several items. Will I receive only one package?

Some less-popular or time-sensitive items ship directly from the manufacturer's warehouse. In the event your order includes items that ship from both our warehouse and the manufacturer's, you will receive more than one package, and they could arrive on different dates. Back to top of page.

What address(es) do you need to process my order?

For the "Billing Address", please enter ONLY the address to which your credit card statement is mailed. We use the Address Verification System provided by the credit card companies. We reserve the right to cancel any order for which you provide an incorrect billing address. No one is at my house during the day. Can you put instructions on the package that they just leave my order at the door?

We require a signature for many orders, so you should only provide us with a shipping address that is attended during the day, such as a work address or the address of a neighbor whom you know will be home. We are not able to place special instructions on packages; if you would like the driver to leave the package without a signature, simply leave a note on your door to that effect. Back to top of page.
