Weight and Balance

  • Hundreds Of Pre-Defined Aircraft Models
WingX's actively-updated Aircraft Model Database contains over 475 pre-defined aircraft models. This means that we have entered the relevant aircraft information for you and all that is left to do is to enter the N-number, associate and aircraft model, and enter its empty weight and moment. using this information, WingX will 'know' the aircraft's W&B envelopes, its maximum ramp weight, maximum takeoff weight, maximum fuel weight, the arms of the seats, baggage and fuel and much more.

  • Fast, Easy, and Accurate Data Entry
All that is left for you, the pilot, to do is to enter the appropriate weights for the flight, and WingX will automatically calculate the Gross Weight, Weight Below Gross, and Center Of Gravity values and display these values along with a graphical representation of the envelope. Nothing could be simpler. In fact, the weights can be enter using simply pop-up menus, no need to tap each individual digit.

  • Detection Of Possible Out-Of-Limit Conditions WingX will automatically detect and flag out-of-limit conditions such as exceeding the Maximum Ramp weight, Maximum Takeoff Weight, Maximum Landing Weight, Maximum Zero Fuel Weight, Maximum Baggage Weight, and Out of Envelope. When no out-of-limit conditions are detected, WingX displays either the Gross Weights, Below Gross Weights, or the Center of Gravity in green. However, when WingX detects a possible out-of-limit condition, the text color changes to red and the appropriate error message is displayed.

  • Helicopter Lateral CG (Premier Edition)
Helicopter pilots are required to calculate the longitudinal as well as the lateral CG; this means double the number of calculations to do, double the time required, and double the odds of making a mistake. WingX 2.0 calculates both the longitudinal and lateral CGs for pilots flying Robinson R22s and other helicopters.

  • User-Defined Aircraft Models
Not all aircraft are 'stock' aircraft, especially expirimental aircraft. Some aircaft have additional tip tanks, additional baggage compartments, seats removed or added, or some other modification performed. WingX 2.0 allows user-defined aircraft models. The user is therefore able to define new Normal or Utility Envelopes, Maximum Ramp Weight, Maximum Takeoff Weight and many other parameters so that their particular aircraft is defined and used by WingX 2.0.

    Route Planning

  • Fast Route Planning Calculations
Using its database of US airport, navaids, fixes, and intersections, WingX will quickly calculate distances, magnetic heading, true course, true heading, and the wind correct angle between fixes. Together with the True Airspeed (TAS), WingX will calculate and display the Estimated Time Enroute (ETE) and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for each leg in the route.

  • Use Downloaded Winds Aloft for Planning
Tight integration with the Weather Database allows WingX to use the actual and predicted winds aloft information in its calculations. WingX will use the wind-reporting station closest to each individual flight leg for the most accurate calculation. The user may also manually enter winds aloft information.

  • Automated VFR/IFR Wind-Optimized Altitudes
Using the Weather Database, WingX will calculate the cruise altitude that will minimize flight time. Two options are available to the user; namely: IFR and E/W. By checking the IFR option, the allowable altitude will be thousands; e.g. 4, 000', 5,000', 6,000' etc, otherwise the VFR altitudes are used such as 4,500', 5,500', 6,500', etc. Checking the E/W option limits the available altitudes to East/West-appropriate altitudes.

  • Fuel Usage Calculations
Fuel usage calculations are critical in pre-flight planning. In fact, fuel exhaustion is a significant cause of accidents. Using Fuel Per Hour (FPH) calculations, each leg's fuel usage is calculated and displayed.

    Weather Images

  • Real-Time Weather Images
WingX will download and display a multitude of weather images such as the Latest Surface Analysis, Flight Conditions, RADAR Tops, RADAR Summary, Regional RADAR, AIRMETs and SIGMETs, Satellite, Current Icing Potential and many more.

  • Drag and Scale Stylus Free
Simply use your thumb to drag the image around the screen - no need to find the stylus and tap on a small scroll bar. The interface is superb and extremely slick. In addition, the weather images can be scaled also stylus-free.

    A/FD Information

  • Communications Information with Auto Dial
The Communications Page includes frequencies for airports and navaids. The airport display include AWOS, ATIS, Clearance, Ground, Tower, CTAF, Approach and Departure, and Emergency frequencies. A new feature in WingX 2.0 is the single-tap Auto Dial functionality. Simply tap on the phone number and Pocket PC Phone Edition devices will automatically dial that phone number.

  • Location Information with Active Links
Important location information is shown on the Location page. The basic information includes the state, nearest city, latitude, longitude, elevation, and magnetic variation. In addition, WingX shows the three closest public airports, VORs, and NDBs. The closest airport list shows ATIS/AWOS frequency, as well as the bearing and distance the airport. The three closest VORs and NDB are shown with their navaid frequency, as well as bearing and distance to the navaid. The closest airports,VORs, and NDBs are actively linked meaning that a single tap on the relevant identifier shows A/FD information for that entity.

  • Facilities Information
The Facilities page shows the availability of fuel type, airframe repair, powerplant repair, bottled oxygen, and bulk oxygen.

  • Runway Information (Premier Edition)
The Runway page shows extensive information about all the runways at an airport. Each runway is first shown in a summary mode that provides only the most basic pieces of information. These pieces of information includes the runway dimensions, the runway surface and condition, as well as the type of runway edge lighting. In addition to the basic information, WingX displays detailed runway information that includes the runway alignment, elevation, types of marking, approach lighting, runway lighting, glide angle, runway gradient, as well as a list of instrument approaches to that runway. The approach names are active links so tapping on an approach name will display that approach chart.

  • Chart Information (Premier Edition)
The Chart page list all the charts available for the airport. The charts include the Airport Diagram, Departure Procedures, Instrument Approach Procedures, Minimums, and STARs. All chart names in the list are active links so tapping on an name will display that chart (Premier Edition required). so that tapping on a chart name

    NACO Charts

  • All US NACO Charts (Premier Edition)
Imagine having the entire set of all US Airport Diagrams, Departure Procedures, Instrument Approach Procedures, Minimums, and STARs in the palm of your hand. Now imagine being able to select a chart with just three taps of your thumb instead of paging through pages and pages in your approach binder at night.

  • Night Vision (Premier Edition)
WingX has a 'Night Vision' mode which will invert the colors to preserve your night vision; i.e the large areas of white change to black and the black text changes to white. If you'd prefer, WingX can color-tint the charts in red, green, or blue.

  • Drag and Scale Stylus Free
Don't fumble with a stylus trying to tap on a tiny scroll bar while bumping around in the clouds or even while just sitting at the FBO. Drag the chart around by sliding your finger over the screen. The chart can be reduced or enlarged.
