If flight operations could be learned only from a book, this would be the book to learn them from. Containing a whopping 562 pages of information and hundreds of illustrations, Flight Training lets other books explain theoretical knowledge and instead concentrates on practical 'how to fly' information. Every maneuver necessary for both the Private and Commercial certificates is explained in great detail in accordance with the latest FAA Practical Test Standards, using both written text from aviation instruction experts and illustrations diagramming flight control inputs. Standard textbooks that just touch on the maneuvers pale in comparison to the detail available in this book.
Includes helpful notes in the margins for quick definitions of terms, further emphasis on key points and useful mnemonic devices to assist in retention of the material.
Flight Training, now in its second edition, is the first volume in the Pilot's Manual Series, which are the single most popular pilot training manuals in the United Kingdom and Australia. Trevor Thom, the author, credits the success of the series to his extensive editorial staff, which includes airline, military and other professional pilots, as well as flight instructors, university professors, FAA representatives, meteorologists, members of the AOPA Air Safety Foundation and designated pilot examiners.
Author Profile: Trevor Thom is one of the most experienced and best educated aviation authors. He is a Boeing 757/767 captain on international operations and holds FAA, German and Australian licenses for a wide range of light aircraft and airliners. He holds degrees in math, physics, German, economics and education. Captain Thom began his aviation adventures learning to fly small aerobatic airplanes as a hobby. After his first visit to an airline cockpit, he set a goal to one day fly a wide-body jet as a captain. Along the way, he found time to write these great manuals and become an excellent ground and flight instructor.
