2006 National Flight Instructor of the Year Rich Stowell
shows you how to control your airplane during a crisis!
A common sense treatment of many of the questions left unanswered during flight training, in one easy-to-read book! Learn emergency strategies that have been taught to military and civilian pilots around the world from the instructor who developed the EMT Program -- the leading edge in maneuver training technology since 1987.
Review: The fundamentals of flight; basic aerodynamics; turn dynamics; stall & spin dynamics; roll dynamics; glide performance; off-airport landing scenarios.
Discover: The intricate relationship between pitch and power, airspeed & altitude; which control surface turns an airplane; the significance of the V-g diagram; what really causes a spin; how wingtip vortices behave; how to handle a control failure; how stress affects pilot performance; the critical sequence of events needed to recover from various unusual attitudes.
Learn: How the airplane's attitude can negatively influence pilot perceptions; the difference between spirals, stalls & spins; how to avoid wake turbulence; how to maximize the probability of surviving a forced landing; trademark procedures such as PARE, Power--Push--RollTM, Speed--Spot--Set-UpTM, and many more.

"Rich Stowell has the unique ability to dissect complex topics in a way that all pilots can understand. His message is safety and his approach makes sense." --Rod Machado
"In recent years, the airlines have begun to realize the critical importance of preparing their pilots for the need to employ emergency maneuvering in the case of attitude upsets. Rich Stowell, who has been in the forefront of such training for years, has just written a book that provides similar advice for general aviation pilots. Emergency Maneuver Training is destined to contribute significantly to general aviation safety, and I recommend it to all who want to keep their airplanes out of the scrap yard." --Barry Schiff
About the Author
Rich Stowell is a noted authority on unusual attitude training, he has given over 6,100 hours of spin, emergency maneuver, aerobatic, and tailwheel instruction since 1987. His experience includes performing more than 26,000 spins -- the equivalent of over 1,230 vertical miles traveled while spinning.
Rich has hosted several critically acclaimed aviation videos, has written numerous articles for Flight Training, Plane & Pilot, Sport Aerobatics, and Aviation Safety magazines, and has authored two informative textbooks: PARE -- The Emergency Spin Recovery Procedure, and Emergency Maneuver Training. He is working on his third book, Stall/Spin Awareness. Rich also maintains the Aviation Learning Center, an interactive Internet web site specializing in all-attitude training resources. An active Aviation Safety Counselor since 1992, Rich presents safety seminars at aviation venues across the U.S. and Canada. Rich has also traveled repeatedly to Indonesia and Japan to conduct spin and aerobatic training clinics and flight demonstrations for military and civilian pilots in those countries.
