The must-have tool for an upcoming checkride!

Used by both instructors and examiners alike to quiz students, these handy study guides contain the questions most frequently asked by FAA examiners. If you can answer each of the questions accurately, you'll pass your test or flight review with flying colors. Ideal for both new pilot certificate applicants and rusty pilots needing a refresher, there's nothing else like it!

The question-and-answer format simulates the oral exam and provides comprehensive, easy to remember responses. It teaches you not only what to expect, but how to exhibit subject mastery and confidence when under the examiner's scrutiny. It will identify your strengths, weaknesses and gaps in your aeronautical knowledge, increasing your study efficiency. And each answer refers you to the appropriate FAA materials for further study.

Pilots will find these guides indispensable tools in both planning for what to expect and mastering the subject matter. Instructors rate these as excellent preparation for students, as well as preps for Instrument Proficiency Checks (IPCs), aircraft transitions, and as general refresher material.

Choose from the following ratings:

  1. Airline Transport Pilot - Includes all the subjects an ATP
candidate will be tested on during checkrides, career interviews,
and aircraft transition rides are covered. Chapters are dedicated
to turbine aircraft theory, performance and limitations, airline
operational procedures, aeronautical decision making (ADM)
and crew resource management (CRM), regulations, and
instrument procedures. This guide will teach applicants not
only what to expect, but also how to exhibit subject mastery
and confidence when they're under the examiner's scrutiny
    224 pages.

  2. Certified Flight Instructor - Includes Fundamentals of
    Instruction
questions covering the subjects from the FAA's
Aviation Instructor's Handbook (FAA-H-8083-9). The latest
Practical Test Standards are accounted for, including the new
flight maneuvers for steep spirals and the 180-degree power-off
approach. References are included with each explanation for
the reader to research further as necessary. Additional study
questions are included at the conclusion of each chapter to
    further aid learning. 272 pages.

  3. Commercial - Designed for pilots involved in training for the
Commercial Pilot's License. Thorough explanations of pilot
responsibilities, technical subject areas and the required
maneuvers-including steep spirals and power-off accuracy
approach/landings-are covered in this simulated oral test
format. Also includes a chapter on Aeronautical Decision
Making and Cockpit Resource Management (ADM and CRM),
covering situational awareness and the use of checklists.
Additional study questions are included at the conclusion of
each chapter to further aid learning. 233 pages.

  4. Helicopter - Specifically written as a resource for aspiring
helicopter pilots. This guide prepares pilots for the oral portion
of their helicopter Checkride for Private, Instrument,
Commercial, Flight Instructor, and ATP. Helicopter pilots can
now use this guide and the corresponding OEG
    to get the
rotary-wing knowledge specific to their training needs.
    184 pages.

  5. Instrument - Designed for private or commercial pilots who
are involved in training for the Instrument Rating. Originally
designed for use in a Part 141 flight school, but quickly
became popular with those training under 14 CFR Part 61 not
affiliated with an approved school. The four main sections of
the guide include: Flight Planning, Departure, En Route, and
Arrival. Additional study questions conclude each chapter.
    173 pages.

  6. Multi-Engine - designed for pilots training for the Multi-Engine
Rating. Originally designed for use in a Part 141 flight school,
but quickly became popular with those training under Part 61
not affiliated with an approved school. The four main sections
of the guide include: Multi-Engine Operations, Flight Principles:
Engine Inoperative, Airplane Systems, and Multi-Engine
Maneuvers. Additional study questions conclude each chapter.
    96 pages.

  7. Private - designed for student pilots training for the Private
Pilot Certificate. All the subjects a Private Pilot candidate will
be tested on during checkrides and review flights are covered.
Chapters are dedicated to certificates and documents, weather,
determining performance and limitations, airplane systems,
cross-country flight planning, night operations, and aero-
medical factors. References for further study are provided
throughout the book, and additional study questions conclude
